Honor Window Case Study for Health Care Company

My background as a healthcare executive has encompassed many areas of clinical care, administration and leadership responsibilities for upwards of 75 healthcare providers. While I have advanced managerial degrees and a clinical degree, I also have a degree in Communications, Public Relations and marketing. I find that at times I tap into my communications degree much more often than even my clinical degree.

In the oversight for highly diverse teams, I have found that effective communication is at the core of good team work, leadership, employee satisfaction and productivity and overall business success and profitability.

While I was well versed and skilled in educating my team about different personality or communication styles and even in how to deal with difficult people, I quickly discovered that this was just a band-aid approach to communication. It didn’t get to the heart of WHY people communicate the way that they do.

HONOR WINDOW

After discovering Michael Skye’s powerful and simple Honor Window process, and witnessing how it has changed my life and relationships, I was eager to share this process within my company.

There were people in teams I was working with, who were facing some difficulty communicating and relating to each other. So, in an effort to build team trust and communication skills, I decided to offer Honor Window training to a core group of my team. I typically provided this training in small groups of 3-4 people, and as many as 12 people.

RESULTS

As there were some difficult communication dynamics in my team, I automatically noticed a shift in awareness about where communication came from. I saw my team members being to share the honor window with others. Difficult personalities not only became more manageable to those around them, but were also seen to soften and open to others. My team developed a level of cohesiveness, respect for each other and openness that I had never seen before. Work effectiveness sky-rocketed and natural leaders who had stood out before begun to shine like never before. My team shared that they had begun to use the honor window in their personal lives as well. I also noticed an increase in employee attendance overall at work which I correlate to increased job satisfaction and investment.

My team discussed at length what it would be like if this could be shared with our entire organization. Having extensive experience and education in Management and Communication, I found this process to be more eye opening and more productive than any other tool that I have ever used to increase communication, teamwork and honor in the workplace.
